Animal-related grief and bereavement

Helping children and families through the loss of beloved pets is one of the four pillars of veterinary social work practice.  As a requirement for the completion of my Veterinary Social Work Certificate at Cleveland State University, I completed a capstone project that developed a  group-based intervention to support children and their families who face pet loss due to death or planned euthanasia.  The proposed intervention is described in the poster, below, which was presented June 9, 2025 at the International  Association of Social Work Groups conference.
